the skies over Europe, Africa, the Atlantic, the Pacific and
all points in between during WWII, now sadly only a small
handful remain. While most were quickly sold off as scrap
after the war or sat in fields, hangars or "boneyards" until
their useful lives had come to an end, a lucky few live on
today in museums and private collections for us to visit
like old friends long separated, who once again meet to
relive old times.
It is those few that we cherish and it is in those few that
future generations will learn the meaning of sacrifice and
courage. It is those few that serve to honor the brave
men and women who defended freedom during its darkest
hours. It is those few that live to tell the story of those
heroes that came home and those that did not.
